Finbar Furey live at Vicar St
Vicar St, Dublin
Saturday 1 June 2019
Multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, storyteller and actor Finbar Furey has announced an extra date for Dublin’s Vicar St on Saturday 1 June due to popular demand.
The Irish folk legend, who has left his mark on the music of Ireland for more than four decades as the lead singer and uilleann pipes player for the Fureys, has always been at the forefront of musical change. He has worked with Martin Scorsese, was lauded by John Peel, featured on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, performed with The Clancy Brothers and many other luminaries, and has always been at the forefront of musical change.
After thirty years touring the world with his brothers, introducing new audiences to the band’s music, Finbar embarked on a solo career to pursue a new life as a singer, writer and producer.
Finbar completed live dates in UK and Ireland to support his self-penned album and live DVD ‘Don’t Stop This Now’ which was acclaimed on its release by BMG UK in March 2018. Here is a rare performance from Finbar with his daughter Aine Furey singing ‘The Taxi’s Waiting’ from DVD ‘Don’t Stop This Now’ https://youtu.be/67_-VUTUuVs
Fans can expect to be treated to Finbar’s rare talents as he brings pure Irish music and humour to the stage. At the age of 71, this supreme musician is not for slowing down – on the upcoming tour Finbar commented: “Too late to stop now!”
The line-up for the tour will be Finbar Furey (Vocals, 5-string Banjo, Guitar, Whistle, Uileann pipes), Peter Eades (Piano, Electric Guitar, Strings, Cuatro, Backing Vocals) and Paul O’Driscoll (Double Bass, Backing Vocals).
