THE ACADEMIC ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM AND DUBLIN SHOW AT VICAR STREET AS PART OF MAJOR UK AND EUROPEAN TOUR

The Westmeath band return to Dublin on March 27th, following the release of their highly anticipated new album, I’m Not Crying, You Are on January 22nd.

Internationally acclaimed Irish band The Academic have announced their return to Dublin, with a show at Vicar Street on March 27th as part of a major UK and European tour.

The date marks an important moment for the Mullingar-formed band, who have grown from their roots in the Irish midlands into one of Ireland’s most successful modern guitar bands. With two No. 1 albums, millions of streams and a devoted international fanbase, The Academic have spent years bringing their unmistakable blend of infectious melodies, guitar-driven energy and emotionally charged songwriting to audiences around the world. Now, they return to Dublin for a show that comes at the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

The Vicar Street date will follow the release of the band’s forthcoming album, I’m Not Crying, You Are, arriving January 22nd. Recorded with Pete Robertson, whose production credits include The Vaccines and Beabadoobee, the record finds The Academic sounding more assured, expansive and emotionally open than ever.

For The Academic, I’m Not Crying, You Are represents a new chapter in their songwriting, reflecting a growing appreciation for the craft of writing songs that can feel immediate while standing the test of time.

“We’ve always been drawn to great songwriting, but as we’ve got older, I think we’ve become more interested in what makes a song last,” says lead singer Craig Fitzgerald. “We spent so much time listening to a lot of The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, and thinking about how different their approaches were to music. We wanted to take some of that spirit into what we do, while still making a record that sounds like The Academic. We are very excited for people to hear it.”

For a band whose story began in Mullingar, the Dublin show represents an opportunity to bring this next chapter home to Irish audiences before taking it across the UK and Europe.

With I’m Not Crying, You Are set for release on January 22nd, the Vicar Street show on March 27th promises to be a defining date in the band’s return to the stage.
